I recently glanced over the Express newspaper today, and stumbled upon an illustration. Immediately my eyes ran over every contour line, color, and shape until I realized something. It reminded me of my childhood days of reading books. So, instinctively I scrolled towards the bottom of the page to identify the artist credited with this simplistic and rhythmatic illustration. It wasn't Richard Scary to my surprise, it was another individual who grew up on the same books as I. His name is Brian Biggs; his charters are all engulfed in motion and his illustrations leave no detail unidentified. This made me smile, if he can do it, so can I.

So much of my frustration as an emerging artist is finding my path. Exhibit Designer or Graphic Designer? Illustrator or Web Developer? Animator or Story Board artist? I am finding out, that is NOT about how realistic your work looks or how many ppl you have following you on any social media websites. It is about how much of yourself you are incorporating into your work. Thats what makes your work stand out from everyone else. When you have identified what makes you happy and have not denied it from yourself, you then have a formula for success.

I love to illustrate in many forms, and I have denied myself of that for many reasons. But seeing Brian's work, it has sparked a flame in me that will push me to continue to doodle. No matter how big or small, detail or not; you never know how a simple drawing will affect someone. AND THIS is my reason/drive/motivation for doing so.
